Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Renal Stepdown position on night shifts, requiring a compact RN license and strong cardiac telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 32-bed Cardiac Renal Stepdown unit of a teaching hospital
• High-acuity cardiac telemetry and med/surg patient population including Afib with RVR, CHF, COPD, sepsis, post ablations, and dialysis cases
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio on nights is typically 1:5-7
• Floating is required within skillset and may include Deaconess Newburgh and Henderson campuses with at least 2 hours' notice for cross-campus floats
• EPIC EMR is used and recent experience is required
• Three weekends required per six-week schedule and every other holiday coverage is expected
• May be required to precept students and new-hires as part of a teaching hospital
• Scrubs must be free of competing health system or agency logos
• Termination possible after three call-ins
• Team-oriented environment with high retention and experienced staff
• No COVID-19 vaccine required, subject to change
• Time off is limited around holidays when the unit may be closed
• Position opened to cover scheduled staff FMLA leaves

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent strong cardiac and telemetry experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment completed
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Proficiency with 12-lead EKG interpretation, telemetry tests, and initiation/titration of cardiac drips
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and adaptability skills
• Recent EPIC charting experience required (must complete a checkoff class)
• Must live more than 40 miles from the facility
