Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment requiring an IL RN license and at least 2 years of recent experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with 10 private beds and 1 observation bed
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with chronic and acute medical conditions as well as post-surgical cases
• Telemetry monitoring provided for up to 4 stable patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Block scheduling is allowed
• Weekend coverage required every second to third weekend
• Floating to 2 other Med Surg units is required
• Use of Pyxis medication system and SBAR communication system
• Unit equipped with safe patient handling equipment and bladder scanner
• Patient population includes those with diabetes, renal disease, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, post-surgical conditions, and stable telemetry needs
• No major neurosurgical or cardiovascular surgical cases managed on this unit
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Team uses rapid response protocols and employs comprehensive isolation precautions as needed
• First time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Med/Surg Tele settings
• Current BLS certification required
• Skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, wound care, and post-surgical care
• Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations
• Preferred: previous charge nurse experience
