Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least two years of large OR experience and the ability to scrub for a day shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in the operating room within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cases involving ortho, EENT, and vascular procedures
• Day shifts with options for 8- or 10-hour shifts, finalized during interview
• On-call and weekend requirements will be discussed during the interview
• Floating may be required between departments or local locations within 20 miles
• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required; on-site training is available
• Provide perioperative nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation
• Coordinate with the patient, family, and healthcare team to ensure effective and patient-centered care
• Responsible for the supervision of LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel
• Completion of unit-specific education and competency testing is required
• Passing basic cardiac arrhythmia testing during orientation is necessary for continued employment
• First time travelers will not be considered for this assignment
• Scrub color or attire will follow facility requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license from New Mexico or a Compact State
• Minimum of two years of current experience in a large operating room
• Ability to perform scrub duties is required
• Completion of at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
• BLS certification from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross is required
• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• No local candidates allowed; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Returning former perm staff must wait one year before being reconsidered
