Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg position requiring a WV or compact RN license, two years of neuro nursing experience, and proficiency with Epic and neurological care.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care neuro medical-surgical unit with a 20-bed capacity
• Patient population includes neurology, deep brain stimulators, stroke, seizures, post-op spines, and other neurological disorders
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6 for floor patients
• Use of Epic EMR is required
• 12-hour day shifts, scheduled on weekends (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday), with flexibility required
• Floating may occur to nearby med-surg units as needed
• Telemonitoring is present, but RNs do not read strips; documentation is required in Epic
• Care provided with support from charge nurses and nurse aides
• Must be comfortable providing care to post-op neuro and complex neurological patients
• Dress code requires any combination of white and royal blue scrubs
• One shift unit-specific orientation provided
• Weekend and holiday rotations are required
• Travelers may not have worked at any WVU Medicine location within the last 2 years and are only eligible to work within the health system for one year before a mandatory 2-year break
• Local travelers are not accepted; must live at least 50 miles from facility

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years recent neuro nursing experience
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required at time of consideration
• Strong neurology experience and proficiency with G-tubes required
• Recent hands-on experience with Epic EMR is mandatory
• ACLS certification is preferred
