Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position working nights in a Level I trauma center with pediatric critical care experience required.
Responsibilities
- Position is based in a hospital's Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Care for pediatric cardiac patients in a Level I trauma setting
- Night shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week
- Assignment length is 13 weeks
- No local candidates accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles away
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric cardiovascular patients including administering medications and monitoring physiological data
- Collaborate with physicians and support staff in performing diagnostic procedures and treatments
- Document patient responses to interventions and adjust care plans as needed
- Communicate care plans to patients and families and facilitate transition at discharge
- Adherence to hospital protocols and delegation of tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Must cover assigned holidays if scheduled
- Requires a six-month separation if previously employed at this facility after maximum contract extension
Requirements
- Active OK or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the American Heart Association required
- Minimum one year of recent CVICU experience in a Level I trauma hospital required
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing theories and practices required
- Strong communication, organization, and ability to meet cultural and language needs of patients and families required
- Some computer skills required
