Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring EPIC experience and competency in chronic ventilator care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on medical/pulmonary cases and renal overflow
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with pulmonary and other medicine-related conditions, including some on chronic ventilators
• Staff-to-patient ratio is 1:5
• Shift schedule is three 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• May work every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week block
• Unit uses remote telemetry and tele-sitting technology
• Floating within skillset may be required
• Participate in rapid response and code team activities as needed
• Isolation precautions must be followed when required
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Request for time off must be included at the time of application; no Christmas RTO allowed
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Must provide a copy of driver’s license and Social Security number
• Local candidates are accepted

Requirements

• Active RN license in Virginia or a compact state is required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience is required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and administration of specified cardiac drips required
• Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care required
• Ability to care for chronically ventilated patients, provide non-invasive respiratory support, and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Pending license accepted if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state only
