Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring Epic and trauma experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma and teaching hospital
• Patient population includes trauma, stroke, STEMI, psychological emergencies, sepsis, substance abuse, and complex medical histories
• Nursing ratios are typically 1:3-4
• Night shifts are available: 3x12 hours, with start times of 17:00 or 19:00
• Weekend shifts are required
• Procedures include moderate and deep sedation, ultrasound, intubation, cardioversion, D&Cs, sexual assault exams, CPR, and emergent deliveries
• Charting is completed in Epic; experience required
• Floating may be required within the hospital but not to sister hospitals
• Responsible for assessment, care planning, and implementing emergency interventions
• Team-based environment with strong collaboration among physicians, nurses, and support staff
• Scrubs provided; no prints allowed
• Return staff must have a 6-month break before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 1 week of requested time off (RTO) allowed
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as non-locals
• Holiday work coverage may be required as part of the regular rotation

Requirements

• Active OR RN license or pending application submitted to the licensing board
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
• COVID-19 vaccination proof required; no exemptions accepted
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS; TNCC preferred
• Epic charting experience is required for consideration
• Must provide two manager or supervisor references from the past 24 months; alternative policy applies if unable to meet the time requirement
• Prior travel experience required for candidates without recent Epic experience
