Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience and a compact or NC RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with a daily census of 51 patients
• Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care
• RN to patient ratios are typically 1:4–6, may surge to 1:7–8 depending on acuity
• Day shifts from 0700–1900 with a 36-hour shift option available
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating may be required within Region 1 facilities and within scope of practice
• Utilizes the Epic EMR system
• Department equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer devices, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, tele-medicine cart, and doppler
• Primary responsibilities include care for a diverse adult patient population requiring telemetry and med/surg interventions
• Support team includes nurse manager, supervisors, CNAs, clinical mentor, rapid response RN, and house supervisor
• Facility is a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke, Bariatric, and Chest Pain Center of Excellence
• Orientation includes a general NEO and two departmental days
• Scrub color is navy blue
• Free parking is available

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Up to 6 days of time off can be approved (excluding holidays), with missed time possibly added to contract end

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Proficiency in general Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care for tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products administration, and wound care
• Epic EMR experience is required or preferred
• Must live at least 50 miles from the assigned facility
