Description

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN with at least one year of recent experience, required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications, and a NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 8 beds and an average census of 8 patients
Patient population includes general medical, cardiac, pneumonia, UTI, chest pain, and fluid overload cases
RN patient ratio is 1:4
Shift times are 0630-1900 or 1830-0700
Weekend rotation is every other weekend
No on-call responsibilities
Float to any adult unit or areas matching clinical competencies
Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Unit uses Epic for EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
Telemetry monitors are present on the unit and RNs are responsible for cardiac rhythm interpretation
Orientation includes new employee orientation and 2 days departmental training
Support staff includes CNAs, a unit receptionist, charge nurse, and 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist access
Free parking is provided
Scrubs must be royal blue
Friendly and academic work environment
First-time travelers will be considered, though previous travel experience is preferred
RN will be responsible for phlebotomy and interpreting telemetry strips during shift
RTO of up to 7 days is allowed if contract is extended

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license
Minimum of 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Experience with PCA, surgical drains, wound care, and telemetry is required
Cardizem/Amiodarone drip experience is preferred but candidates must be comfortable to learn
Must be able to start and maintain peripheral IVs
Epic EMR experience preferred
