Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a pediatric 23-hour Observation Unit, requiring a SC or compact RN license and advanced life support certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in a pediatric 23-hour Observation Unit within an ambulatory/inpatient setting
- Three 12-hour day shifts per week from 5:30am to 6:00pm, Monday through Thursday
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Floating is required to sister facilities within the system as needed
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
- Scrub color is royal or navy blue
- Provide nursing care for pediatric patients in a short-stay observation environment
- Team structure includes support from pediatric medical and ancillary staff
- Modules required pre-start, averaging 4 hours, are completed before beginning the assignment
- All requested time off must be included at time of application and is subject to facility approval
- Holiday time off requests are limited and may delay consideration
- Orientation is provided on-site at the start of the contract
- All staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license in hand prior to start
- Current AHA certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Pediatric nursing experience in an observation or similar setting is required
- Previous travel experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Applicants must live outside a 60-mile radius for travel consideration; local candidates may be considered at a reduced rate
- Candidates previously employed with the system must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
- Experience with Epic EMR is preferred
