Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position, requiring NJ or compact license and strong cardiovascular experience.

Responsibilities

Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital
Patient population includes fresh post-open heart surgical cases, ventilated patients, and those with chronic and acute renal failure
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1-2
Night shift schedule with 3 x 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
Every other weekend and staff are required to work two out of three major holidays
Travelers may float to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding, and IMC units
Uses EPIC EMR for charting
Primary responsibilities include caring for cardiovascular surgical patients, including monitoring and assisting with advanced devices and procedures
Must be comfortable floating to multiple units as needed
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Locals are accepted at the same rate
No block scheduling available
Scrub color is not specified; follow unit guidelines

Requirements

Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Experience in CVICU with fresh open heart cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR
Proficient with BiPAP, CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, 12 lead EKG, post-op open heart recovery, Swan, FloTrac, temp pacers, A-lines, vents, chest tubes, and devices such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismaflex
SICU experience may be considered if accompanied by CVICU training
No prior full-time or PRN employment at the health system within the past year
