Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position on night shifts requiring a MO or compact license and expertise in acute care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Care for adult patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions, including complex blood, endocrine, cardiac, renal, GI, infectious, and respiratory diagnoses
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) per week
• Weekend work required every other weekend
• Use of Epic EMR; prior experience may be required for certain units
• Float within service line as needed to meet patient care demands
• No on-call responsibilities
• Responsible for direct patient care, including blood draws and initiating IVs in a high-acuity environment
• Teamwork is emphasized with support in a large, multidisciplinary setting
• Wear navy blue scrubs as the standard dress code
• Parking passes are available for a fee, with free parking for night shift staff
• Holiday coverage and rotation may be required as scheduled
• No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted per 13-week contract; no RTO allowed during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months with a required 3-month break between assignments
• Testing modules are required and compensated during orientation

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg experience required, with 2 years preferred or 1 year if from a Level I/teaching facility
• Current BCLS certification required
• Phlebotomy and IV start skills required
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Valid identification documents such as Social Security card and driver’s license required for employment
• Prior Epic EMR experience may be required
• No permanent employment with BJC within the past year
