Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position requiring prior travel experience and MA RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a large hospital float pool supporting 15 medical surgical units including neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gynecological, genitourinary, orthopedics, oncology, transplant, and vascular units
- Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Rotating 12-hour and 8-hour shifts with day, evening, and night coverage; schedule may rotate within the week with notice
- Assignment includes every other weekend and holiday shifts
- No on-call required
- Assignments may be given up to two hours before the shift
- Primary responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, 12 lead EKGs, lasix gtt, blood transfusions, and nebulizer administration
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Med/Surg float pool RNs are assigned to various units every 2-3 weeks, with flexibility required for last-minute assignment changes
- Weekly orientation provided every Monday unless it falls on a holiday
- Parking for day shifts may cost up to $43 per day, and public transportation is available
- Any color scrubs are permitted
- Time off requests must be submitted at the time of application and may not exceed 4 days; no blocked or consecutive specific day requests allowed
- Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius are not eligible
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required at time of consideration
- At least 3 years of recent related RN experience
- Prior travel RN experience is required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- Level I trauma experience required
- Experience in a teaching hospital and the specialty area preferred
- Basic computer and Epic system navigation skills required
- COVID vaccine and booster, as well as flu vaccination, are required unless medically exempt
- Must pass Tele/ECG and medication tests
- All previous employees must have a 6-month break before returning
