Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for night shifts, requiring at least one year of L&D experience and a SD or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Work in an 8-bed Labor & Delivery unit of a hospital
Care for L&D, postpartum, antepartum, newborns, and infants under 28 days old
Level 2A nursery with care for sick babies
Some care for gyn-surgical and mastectomy post-op patients, supported by other staff if needed
Laboring ratio is 1:2; couplets ratio 1:3-4
Uses centralized fetal monitoring and Epic EMR
Night shifts are 12 hours, with every other weekend rotation
Three holidays and one on-call holiday may be required with a rotating schedule
Floating may occur to Med/Surg as a CNA or as within L&D scope
On-call scheduling per census and unit rotation
Hospital-provided scrubs are required
Charge nurse available in-house covering all units; 24/7 lab and RT support
Orientation tailored to experience, typically one week for travelers
Nursery is located behind the nurse's station
First-time travelers with L&D experience are welcome
Two approved time-off requests per year, submitted before the schedule posts
Free parking is available for staff

Requirements

Active SD or compact RN license required
Completion of an accredited nursing education program
Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP required
At least one year of recent L&D-specific nursing experience
Proficiency in EFM interpretation, adult and neonatal assessments
Experience with Epic EMR preferred
Must live more than 100 miles from the facility
Former permanent staff must wait one year before applying as a traveler
