Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a night shift position in a long-term care (LTC) acute care setting with BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 59-bed long-term care (LTC) unit, typically with fewer than 40 residents
• Night shift, 12-hour schedule
• Patient ratio is 1 nurse for 20-25 residents at night, with three CNAs on night shift
• Serve a population including convalescent LTC, post-stroke, CHF, hospice, respite care, and insulin-dependent diabetics
• Minimal medication pass required on nights, with most residents receiving no medications after 22:00
• PCC charting system is used
• Blood draws done by phlebotomy; central line draws by floor nurses
• No vent or trach management required
• Required to work every other weekend
• Must work 1-2 holidays per contract
• Charge nurse handles a full patient load
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Two days of floor orientation with a preceptor provided
• Must wear professional scrubs in any color
• Natural nails must not exceed 1/4 inch
• Free onsite parking is available
• Time-off requests up to 7 days are subject to approval by the DON
• Hospitalist onsite 24/7 with ancillary services including PT, OT, ST and an adjacent hospital for emergencies

Requirements

• Active MT or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification through AHA required
• At least 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience with LTC patient populations preferred but not required
• Experience caring for post-stroke, CHF, hospice, respite, and diabetic residents is preferred
