Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Long Term Care role in an acute care setting, requiring a MT or compact RN license and AHA BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Long Term Care (LTC) unit within an acute care facility
• Care for convalescent, post-stroke, CHF, hospice, respite care, and insulin-dependent diabetic patients
• Patient ratio is typically 1 nurse to 20–25 residents during days; 1 nurse at night with 3 CNAs supporting
• No ventilator or tracheostomy care currently required
• 12-hour night shifts are the primary schedule
• Minimal medication administration after 2200 and morning blood sugars for diabetic residents
• Charting is completed in PCC
• Medication is administered via a medication cart loaded by the nurse
• Required to work every other weekend
• 1-2 holidays per contract are expected
• RNs may function as charge nurses while carrying a full patient load
• Two-day orientation with preceptor followed by independent assignment
• Support from CNAs, Director of Nursing, ward clerk (day), phlebotomy, and hospitalist (24/7)
• Phlebotomy team handles peripheral blood draws; central line draws are performed by floor nurses
• Scrub dress code: Any color as long as professional
• Free on-site parking is available
• Natural nail length must not exceed ¼ inch
• Time off up to 7 days may be approved, with additional days or holidays requiring DON approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active MT or compact RN license required
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required; prior LTC experience is not mandatory
• Ability to work independently after orientation and preceptorship
• Experience with the specified patient populations is expected
