Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night Shift Emergency Department position requiring an active IL RN license and advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Emergency Department
• Treats patients across the lifespan, from neonate through geriatric
• Night shift schedule: 7p-7a, 2 nights during the week and every other weekend
• Responsible for supervising LPNs and CNAs as needed
• Serve as house supervisor during some shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Requires use of 2-way radio communication with EMS and first responders
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document care provided
• Administer medications and blood products or delegate to LPN as appropriate
• Assess patient acuity and prioritize care in the ER setting
• Provide health education to patients and families/caregivers
• Perform follow-up call-backs on patients treated in the ER
• Expected to adapt to changing assignments and work with a diverse community
• Adherence to all hospital and departmental policies, safety, and confidentiality standards

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, PALS, NRP, and ATT
• Ability to pass department or hospital competency and proficiency testing
• Familiarity with EMS systems
