Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a NM or compact license, with strong preference for Level I trauma and travel experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma and teaching hospital
- Patient population includes a high volume of admissions with many ED Holding cases
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Opportunities to float to Adult PCUs as needed; optional floating to Peds ED
- Potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma Department depending on staffing needs
- Night shift schedule with options for 36 or 48 hour work weeks; weekends scheduled as needed
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Responsibilities include medication administration including IVs, clinical documentation, and communication of clinical findings
- First-time travelers will be considered if they meet Level I trauma experience requirements
- Black scrubs required and not provided
- Free parking available
- Assignment requires approval for more than 7 days requested time off
- Admit holds are increasing, impacting daily workflow
Requirements
- Active NM or compact state RN license (pending accepted)
- At least 2 years of recent emergency department experience required; 1.5 years may be considered
- Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (must have prior to consideration), NIHSS (can be in process)
- COVID vaccination required unless exemption form is completed and signed by a provider for medical or religious reasons
- No local candidates within 75 miles
