Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring NM or compact state licensure and current TNCC certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital with Level I Trauma and teaching hospital designation
- Care for critical patients, including many ED admits and ED holding cases
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Shifts are available for 36 or 48 hours per week, primarily nights (19:00-07:30)
- Weekend shifts required as needed, with weekend nights including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Floating to Adult Progressive Care Units (PCUs) is expected based on staffing needs, optional floating to Pediatric ED
- Charting is done using Cerner EMR
- Black scrubs required, not provided by the facility
- Administer medications, including IVs, and accurately document and communicate clinical findings
- Increased number of admitted hold patients currently seen in the unit
- Night and weekend shifts part of regular scheduling
- First time travelers may be considered if meeting Level I Trauma experience requirements
- No on-call responsibilities
- Parking is provided at no cost
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license; NM license may be pending at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS; can be pending)
- Must have TNCC certification before consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; those with at least 1.5 years may be considered
- Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
- COVID-19 vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions accepted upon proper documentation
- No local candidates within 75 miles will be considered
