Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical night shift position requiring a MO or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a short-term acute care hospital on a Medical Surgical unit
• Patient population includes medicine, colorectal, urology, plastic and bariatric surgery, orthopedic spine and recon (hip and knee), and general surgery cases
• Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Float between Medical Surgical units to cover 3100 and 2100 units as needed
• Electronic charting with Epic is used
• Primary responsibilities include managing surgical and medical patients as outlined in unit descriptions
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Free parking is available for employees in designated areas
• No RTO permitted during the first week of orientation; up to 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract
• All travelers must reside outside a 75-mile radius and may stay up to 18 months before a 3-month break is required
• Pre-arrival modules completed during orientation are compensated

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Epic EMR experience required for certain units
• No local candidates within a 75-mile radius
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
