Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown position requiring a NJ or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Stepdown unit caring for acute care inpatients
• Patient population includes those requiring medical/surgical, telemetry, or IMC level of care
• Patient ratios are 1:4-5 or higher, depending on acuity
• Antiarrhythmia drips administered without titration
• RNs must interpret cardiac rhythms and conduct NIHSS assessments
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
• Weekend and holiday coverage required every other weekend and at least 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within skillset when not needed on primary unit
• Uses Epic EMR system; experience preferred but not required
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Responsible for caring for acute and stepdown patients with complex medical and cardiac needs
• Provide assessments, monitoring, and management of antiarrhythmic drips without titration
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• No block scheduling is offered
• Expected to float within skillset as needed
• Dress code and scrub color not specified
• Time off requests are considered but subject to department needs

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and perform NIHSS assessments
• Experience caring for medical/surgical and telemetry patients in an acute care setting
• Background check and clear license record required
• Previous employment or PRN status with the health system requires a 1-year gap before travel assignments
