Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position requiring a WV or compact RN license, Cath Lab experience, and strong procedural skills.

Responsibilities

• Position based in an acute care cardiac Cath Lab setting
• Care for patients undergoing cardiac, vascular, and IR procedures including PCI, diagnostic caths, pacemaker implants, mediports, dialysis caths, and AAA stenting
• Average of 16 cases per day, utilizing 2 Cath/IR labs, 1 Hybrid room, and 7 holding rooms
• Shifts are three 12-hour days each week from 0530 to 1800, with varied weekday call requirements
• On-call duties include one weekend every 4th weekend and possible holiday call rotation
• Call response time is 30 minutes with a 4-person team consisting of 2 RNs and 2 cardiovascular techs
• Scrubs are provided with a royal blue dress code
• Cerner Soarian is the current EMR with transition to Phillips Xper planned in 2025
• No floating requirements
• Duties include pre-admission and post-care in holding, procedural nursing, PICC line insertion, and patient monitoring
• Work closely with a team of 6 Cath Lab techs and support from a charge RN
• Initial orientation includes 2-3 shifts with a preceptor
• Must be able to respond to calls within 30 minutes of notification
• Royal blue scrubs are provided and required
• Returning travelers who previously worked with WVU Medicine must observe a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work at WVU Medicine for more than one cumulative year without a mandatory 2-year break
• First time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years recent Cath Lab RN experience required
• Prior exposure to interventional radiology and peripheral vascular cases required
• Proficiency with equipment such as impellas, IABP, shockwave, IVUS, FFR, IFR, swans, and roto required
• Ability to manage IV conscious sedation and airway management required
• Competence in reading and interpreting tele rhythms is required
• Driver’s license copy required for consideration
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility due to radius rules
