Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute, trauma level 3 setting with call and weekend requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds
• Patient ratios are typically 1:2 with 1-3 births per day
• Handles labor, delivery, postpartum, triage, and couplet care as needed
• 12-hour shifts available for days (6a-6p) and nights (6p-6a)
• Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required
• One call shift required per 4-week schedule
• May float to Emergency Department or Med/Surg if experienced
• Uses Allscripts - Sunrise EMR
• Collaborate with a team including respiratory therapists, OB scrub techs, health unit coordinators, and patient care technicians
• Nurse manager may assist with patient care as needed
• OB/Neonatologist providers are not in-house; must be prepared to handle emergencies until medical staff arrives
• Pharmacy is available in-house 24/7
• Orientation provided every Monday
• Scrub color not specified; follow standard hospital guidelines
• High acuity, trauma level 3 Labor & Delivery environment

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 3 years recent L&D nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required
• C-section and high-risk obstetric experience required
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress required
• Must be able to care for patients with pre-eclampsia
• Strong assessment skills to manage OB emergencies until provider arrival
