Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with oncology surgical patients, requiring an OH or compact RN license and at least 2 years' experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on a mixed acuity PCU/Med Surg unit specializing in oncology surgical care
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and reconstructive surgeries
• Special procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, insulin and heparin drips
• Staffing goal is 1:4, with a maximum ratio of 1:5
• Self-scheduling requests are accepted but final schedules are balanced by staff
• Both day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) 12-hour shifts are available
• Variable weekend coverage based on unit needs
• EPIC EMR is used and experience is required
• Orientation includes one week of Mon-Fri dayshift and a second week with a preceptor on unit
• Focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall reduction
• Self-schedule requests are considered as part of the scheduling process
• Heavy focus on teamwork with all permanent staff PCU-trained
• First week orientation is structured to support traveler success

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years' recent PCU experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• ONS Chemo certification preferred but not required
• Experience caring for oncology surgical, hepatobiliary, and colorectal patients preferred
