Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with a BSN, SD or compact RN license, and 2 years of operating room nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the acute care Operating Room with a patient population across general, OB/GYN, urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, cardiovascular, and bariatrics
• Assignment length is 13 weeks with 12-hour day shifts, typically three shifts per week from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Call required approximately once every 4th weekend, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays for outpatient infusions
• Potential floating within the peri-operative department, including pre-op, post-op, outpatient services, and PACU
• Facility features 4 OR suites, 1 procedure room, 8 PACU bays, and 18 patient center rooms
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system; experience with these systems is beneficial
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 in OR, 1:1-4 in patient center, and 2:1 in PACU
• Call rotation and rotating holiday coverage required
• Responsibilities include circulating surgery cases, prepping cases, working with preference cards, setting up and cleaning OR rooms, and managing a broad range of surgical specialties
• Orientation includes department, equipment, workflow, and hospital navigation with additional training as needed
• Required to wear provided ceil blue scrubs
• All clinicians must badge in and out of the facility
• Candidates who have previously worked for the local health system must have a minimum 6-month break before consideration
• Local candidates within 80 miles are accepted, though pay differentials may apply

Requirements

• Active SD or compact state RN license required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Minimum of 2 years operating room RN experience required
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Strong organizational and note-taking skills needed
• Experience with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication systems preferred
