Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with TNCC certification and prior travel assignment experience for a high-acuity mixed ICU position.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 39-bed mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) setting
• Care for complex ICU patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases
• Shifts are 12-hour days with every other weekend rotation
• Potential to float to any adult floor including MedSurg/Tele if overstaffed
• RN-to-patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3 based on acuity
• Cardiac, neuro, trauma, post-op (CABG/TAVR), and ARDS/ventilator cases are common
• Charting with Epic is required
• Alaris/Baxter pumps and Omnicell medication management systems are used
• ICU RNs provide care for ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma patients
• Interdisciplinary team includes CNA support, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapists, and intensivist coverage
• Hospital and unit orientation provided, including one 12-hour and one 8-hour shift in ICU
• Scrub color is navy
• No call requirement
• No time off allowed during assigned holidays or during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August)

Requirements

• Active SD or compact RN license
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel assignments strongly preferred
• At least one prior travel assignment is required; no first-time travelers
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry
• Strong preference for experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT
• Must reside more than 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
