Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Oncology position requiring a SD or compact license and proficiency with EPIC.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital-based Oncology unit with 16 inpatient beds
- Mixed acuity PCU/IMC, including intermediate care, telemetry, MedSurg, and oncology cases
- Patient population includes oncology patients (surgical, new diagnosis, complications), medical overflow, and patients receiving prolonged chemotherapy infusions
- RN to patient ratio is 1:4 on both day and night shifts
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend rotation
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to any adult inpatient unit within scope, including Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, and Observation units
- Uses Epic for charting, Alaris, and Omnicell equipment
- Daily responsibilities include monitoring telemetry, caring for oncology and overflow patients, and managing chemotherapy infusions if certified
- Supported on unit by CNAs, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy (peripheral draws), clinical resource nurse, RT, and hospitalist
- Two orientation shifts on unit provided, plus facility orientation and online learning
- Must comply with monthly pain score audit standards at 90% compliance
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Free parking is available
- Holiday coverage required for 2 out of 4 major holidays, unless prior arrangements are made
- No RTO considered during the first 3 weeks of August annually
- First-time travelers with at least one year of experience and prior Epic use will be considered
- No local travelers; 100-mile radius rule applies
Requirements
- Active SD or compact RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Minimum one year of general nursing experience required
- IMC/PCU level experience, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and titratable vasoactive drips
- Proficiency with chest ports required
- Comfort working MedSurg assignments is required
- ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred for handling chemo infusions
- Must have completed a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
- Travelers must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
- Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
