Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least one year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Position is in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a teaching hospital
Unit has 36 beds with an average daily census of 33 patients
Patient population includes general med/surg, post-operative, bariatric, orthopedic, and surgical trauma cases
RN to patient ratio is 1:6
Requires floating to sister med-surg units (7N and 7S) with the same ratios and expectations
Telemetry monitoring is utilized
EMR systems used are Encompass and EPIC
Required to work every other weekend
No on-call responsibilities
Shift is 0700-1930
Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Responsibilities include caring for a diverse post-operative and med/surg patient population and providing telemetry monitoring
Support staff includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, 24/7 RT, 24/7 hospitalist, and 24/7 intensivist coverage
Orientation includes facility-wide and two days of unit-specific training
Scrub color is royal blue
Free parking available
Unit culture is described as strong and supportive with strong leadership and work ethic
RTO requests require Resource Team approval

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required
Minimum of 1 year recent experience in Med/Surg Tele nursing
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
General med/surg patient care experience required
Experience with EMR systems Encompass or EPIC preferred
Previous travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
