Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Labor & Delivery position in Des Moines, IA, requiring previous travel experience and an active IA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Labor & Delivery setting with 45 beds and 2 operating rooms
• High-risk OB, antepartum, c-sections, and vaginal delivery patient population
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
• Administers drips including magnesium, insulin, and pitocin
• Scheduled for 4x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 48 hours per week
• Required to work every third weekend and participate in holiday rotation if scheduled
• Floating may be required across all campuses to Maternity and L&D units, including postpartum/MB
• Uses Epic EMR
• Will provide care for high-risk obstetric cases as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Hospital-provided scrubs are required
• Must work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving)
• Requesting more than 1 day off between 11/26/25-11/30/25 and 12/23/25-1/2/26 is not permitted
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted with an adjusted rate
• Orientation consists of 16 hours of NBO
• Returning employees may not have been employed at this facility within the previous 12 months

Requirements

• Active IA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1.5 years current hospital L&D nursing experience
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and AWHONN EFM
• Must have successfully completed at least one prior travel contract in the past 12 months
• No first-time travelers accepted
