Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night Shift Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma hospital, requiring current NM or compact RN licensure and strong trauma skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital
- Assignment includes adult and pediatric patient populations
- Patient ratio is typically 1:5
- Night shifts with 12-hour schedules; options for 36 or 48-hour workweeks
- Travelers are required to work weekends as needed, with weekend nights considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Floating to Adult PCUs is expected, with optional floating to Pediatric ED and possible floating to ED Holding and Trauma units depending on staffing needs
- Cerner EMR is used; experience is preferred but not required
- Primary responsibilities include medication administration, including IV medications, and thorough documentation and communication of clinical findings
- Increased number of admitted patients and ED holds are currently being seen
- No on-call requirements for this assignment
- No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
- Time off requests exceeding 7 days require approval
- Required to wear black scrubs; scrubs are not provided
- Parking is free for staff
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license; pending license accepted at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required; candidates with 1.5 years may be considered
- Level I Trauma experience is strongly preferred
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, TNCC (must be in hand), PALS, NIHSS (can be pending at start)
- Travel experience is strongly preferred; first-time travelers with 2+ years Level I Trauma experience may be considered
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with appropriate documentation
