Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring a current NY RN license and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital float pool covering Med/Surg, PCU, and acute inpatient rehab (ortho/neuro) units
Care for patients with conditions such as sepsis, COPD, CHF, post-op, general med/surg, and post-op plastics
Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6
Required to float between Med/Surg 4 Pav, Med/Surg 5 Pratt, PCU, and acute inpatient rehab
Administer heparin drips, magnesium, and potassium riders
Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 7p-7a, totaling 36 hours per week
Weekend and holiday shifts are required
No on-call responsibilities
Meditech experience is required
Nurses will provide comprehensive care including assessment, clinical teaching, and addressing patient needs
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills are required
May be required to function as a charge nurse
Must be able to recognize safety issues and use lifts or safe patient handling techniques
Ability to function well under stress and demonstrate creative problem-solving is expected

Requirements

Current and active NY RN license required
BLS and ACLS certifications are required
Must have completed at least one successful travel assignment
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
PCU experience is highly preferred
Experience with Meditech EMR is required
Strong leadership, prioritization, and delegation skills are necessary
Candidate must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
First-time travelers will not be considered
