Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN who holds a NM or compact RN license, with at least two years of PACU experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within a hospital operating room setting
• Day shift schedule, four 10-hour shifts per week, with weekend and on-call responsibilities as needed
• Float between departments and locations within a 20-mile radius as required
• Cares for a post-anesthesia patient population
• Epic EMR is used; prior experience is preferred but on-site training is available
• Provide direct PACU nursing care, medication administration, and patient assessment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team and support clinical supervision of LPNs and assistive personnel
• Identify and address patient and family teaching and discharge needs
• Must wait one year after permanent staff employment before returning as a traveler
• Adheres to a 50-mile radius rule; local candidates are not eligible

Requirements

• Active RN license in New Mexico or compact state required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
• At least two years of current PACU experience required
• Completion of at least one previous 13-week travel assignment required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Must pass basic cardiac arrhythmia (BCA) testing during first week of assignment
