Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a neuro-focused Stepdown unit, requiring BLS, ACLS, and a VA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 12-bed Stepdown unit specializing in critical care and neuroscience at the Intermediate level
• Common patient populations include post-Neuro ICU, neuro trauma, hemorrhage, ENT cancer patients post-tumor resection and reconstruction, post-op spine, and various neurological cases
• Patient ratio is 1:3
• Night shifts (4x12 hours, 19:00–07:00) with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Unit uses Epic EMR, previous Epic experience required
• Float according to facility policy
• Care for patients requiring intermediate-level neuro and critical care
• Team approach with supportive staff experienced in neuro and post-surgical care
• First time travelers are eligible for consideration
• Up to 40 hours of approved RTO available per 13-week contract
• 12 months must pass before returning as a traveler to this facility
• No radius rule for local candidates
• Must inform account manager of any background issues
• Holiday and weekend rotation coverage required

Requirements

• Current VA or compact RN license, pending acceptable
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required before start (may be submitted if pending)
• Previous stepdown or neuroscience nursing experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Two professional references required at time of consideration
• Copy of driver’s license and Social Security card required
