Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU night shift position requiring 2 years of MICU experience and EPIC proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) within a hospital setting
• Night shifts with a schedule of 3x12 hour shifts per week (19:00–07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Estimated nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2
• Care for patients with multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, COVID, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, DKA, liver and renal failure
• Special procedures include continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia and use of externalized IV pumps for COVID+ patients
• Use of specialized equipment such as NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV Pump, GE Cardiac Monitor, GE Ventilator, and boom lifts in each patient room
• EMR is Epic; Epic experience is required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Manage high-acuity MICU patients with complex medical needs
• Utilize advanced equipment and perform specialized procedures relevant to medical critical care
• First-time travelers are considered
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract
• Former employees must be gone at least 6 months to be eligible
• Current employees cannot be considered for traveler roles at the facility

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license in hand
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical ICU nursing experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA only)
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, and ventilator management
• Experience with Epic charting is required
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Must provide two professional references, one of which must be supervisory
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately after contract signing
