Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with an active IL license, 2 years of recent ICU experience, and mandatory floating flexibility for a night shift position.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Level 1 Trauma Center within various ICU units, including Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU
- Required to float within ICU units and to med-surg units as needed
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- First week includes daytime orientation and precepting
- Every other weekend work required (2 weekends per month)
- No block scheduling and no special scheduling requests accepted
- Uses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience preferred
- Local candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility
- Mandatory floating across a range of ICU specialties and to other units based on needs
- Team-based support model used when floating outside primary competency
- Scrub color is navy blue and not provided by facility
- Strict compliance with documentation and onboarding requirements
- No RTO on weekends, holidays, or the day before/after a holiday; maximum RTO is 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days
- Holiday and peak season coverage is required
- Travelers may be asked to float to other locations within 50 miles of the main facility with up to 2 hours notice
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute ICU nursing experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Proof of COVID vaccination is required
- Must be willing and able to float between multiple ICU units and to med-surg units as staffing demands
- Ability to complete necessary lab work within 72 hours of offer acceptance
