Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a busy Emergency Department night shift position requiring triage experience, charge capability, and a valid VA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• 20-bed Emergency Department with 15 monitored beds and 5 fast track rooms
• Serves a high-volume, busy ER averaging 80-100 patients per day
• Not a trauma center but is a Primary Stroke Center with Cath Lab availability
• Staffed by ED nurses and ED techs in a fast-paced work environment
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
• Blocked scheduling is not accommodated
• Responsibilities include care coordination, assessment, medication administration, and acting as a safety advocate in accordance with nursing standards
• Must be able to manage demanding physical and emotional workload typical of a busy ER
• Role covers a diverse patient population across all ages with a range of medical, surgical, and psychosocial needs
• Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team and outside agencies such as EMS and law enforcement
• Holiday coverage required
• Orientation includes EKG testing with provided study materials

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years Emergency Department RN experience
• Triage experience required
• BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS, and NIH certifications required
• Must be willing to serve as charge nurse as needed
• Dysrhythmia (EKG) exam required at orientation, with 2 attempts allowed and study guide provided
• No local candidates accepted (must live more than 50 miles from the facility)
