Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position in an acute care hospital, requiring an AK RN license or Compact License with AK application and 2 years of L&D experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Labor and Delivery unit within an acute care hospital
- Care for complex patient population with significant social history and sensitive cultural needs
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Must float to all areas including Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum within scope
- Night shift position with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- Every other weekend required, with 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks (Saturday and Sunday)
- Uses Cerner for electronic charting
- Scrubs in any color or pattern are acceptable; provided for L&D/OR
- Provide comprehensive care for patients with complex social and obstetric histories
- Must be comfortable handling cases involving significant social issues, including domestic violence
- Self-scheduling model is used for shift preferences
- No on-call responsibilities required
- No restrictions on requested time off
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
Requirements
- Active AK RN license or Compact License with proof of full application for AK license required
- At least 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery RN experience
- AWHONN Intermediate, BCLS, and NRP certifications required
- Experience with Cerner charting preferred
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity, especially to Alaska Native populations
- Not open to local candidates within a 50-mile radius
