Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Renal Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring Epic experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical-Renal Progressive Care Unit (PCU) serving adult and geriatric patients
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am; 4x12 available upon request
• Patient ratios are typically 1:5
• Unit specializes in care for hospitalist medicine patients with renal and other medical diagnoses
• Unit functions as an alternative for gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and other surgical or procedural cases covered by hospitalists
• One bed dedicated to chronic ventilator patients
• Floating within skillset required
• Epic charting experience required
• Weekend requirements include every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Responsible for monitoring and caring for adult and geriatric patients with renal, cardiac, and other medical needs
• Will care for patients requiring chronic ventilator support and a variety of medical-surgical diagnoses
• Floating may occur to other units within the nurse’s competency
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Must provide two references for consideration
• Must work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required; pending license accepted for single-state non-compact candidates only
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting required
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of cardiac drips (without titration)
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line management
• Ability to provide respiratory support with nasal cannula, oxygen, and non-invasive airway devices
• Experience with rapid response teams and maintaining isolation precautions
• Epic EMR experience required
