Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN with strong IMC or ICU experience and BLS/ACLS certifications for night shifts in a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a short-term acute care, Level 1 Trauma Center
• Assignation to 3S Intermediate Care Unit with 8 IMC beds and 10 observation beds staffed separately
• Primarily night shifts (7:00pm to 7:00am), with options for 3x12 or 4x12 schedules
• Every other weekend required
• Float within scope to meet facility needs as required
• Care for a varied patient population including respiratory, DKA, arrhythmias, post-operative kidney transplant, and interventional neuro patients, as well as renal and telemetry patients with medical and surgical needs
• Patient ratio is 3:1 for IMCU and 4:1 for medical/surgical observation
• Block schedule requests may be accommodated and discussed during interview
• No call requirement
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Orientation provided every other week on Thursday
• Work in a major teaching hospital environment
• Royal blue or white scrubs required
• Free parking available for travelers
• No RTO restrictions; discuss time-off requests during interview
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility, with 75-99 miles considered upon approval

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required at start; pending accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in specialty
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong IMC and/or ICU background required
• Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and ventilator management required
• References from at least two manager or charge nurses within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Perm employees may not return within 2 years of last day worked in permanent role
• Flu vaccination required during flu season unless medically exempt
