Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a compact or SC RN license, 2 years of PICU experience, and AHA BLS/PALS certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit caring for patients aged 0-18 with a mix of ICU and stepdown cases
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Up to five weekend night shifts per schedule including Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
- Floating within nursing scope may be required to meet unit needs
- Unit treats a blend of medical and surgical cases including respiratory compromise, trauma, post-op, neurology, and neurosurgery
- Advanced therapies provided including ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and dialysis
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Unit includes a multidisciplinary team with RNs, techs, secretaries, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and pharmacists
- Must cover holidays if contracted during those periods
- Block scheduling may be available with manager approval based on unit needs
- All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application and is subject to approval
- Travelers who were previously permanent staff or PRN at this health system must have at least one year of separation before returning as travelers
- Local candidates within a 60-mile radius are considered at a local rate
- Parking permit available for a fee at designated garage
- During hurricane season, all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license is required
- Minimum of 2 years recent PICU RN experience required
- Current American Heart Association BLS and PALS certifications required
- Preferred experience with ECMO and CRRT
- Must provide driver’s license and Social Security number for consideration
