Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a Level I Trauma acute care setting, requiring at least two years of recent experience and prior travel assignments.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit within a large hospital and Level I Trauma Center
• Provide care to adult patients with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-7 using a team nursing model
• Day shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• On-call and weekend coverage required as needed
• No block scheduling, though weekend block may be considered after discussion during interview
• Nurses may be floated between similar units or campuses within 20 miles, though floating between campuses is rare
• Uses Cerner EMR; previous Cerner experience is preferred
• Responsibilities include delivering comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care in an acute care environment
• Must be able to work holidays; if three major holidays fall during assignment, expect to work at least two of them, or one if only two holidays fall within contract dates
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Must be separated from any prior permanent or internal employment with the health system for at least one year before eligibility to return as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application; no exceptions for post-offer RTO
• Vaccination status must be provided as part of consideration

Requirements

• Active Tennessee or compact RN license required, with no pending licensure accepted
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience in a large hospital setting
• Level I Trauma experience required
• At least one completed previous travel assignment required
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) accepted for this position
• Current BLS certification required
• Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (strict radius rule)
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Copy of valid driver’s license required for consideration
