Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position in an acute care setting requiring IV therapy and chemotherapy administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Oncology unit within an acute care Level I trauma center
• Day shift with options for 4x12 or 3x12 hour schedules, starting at 7:15 AM
• Unit features 24 beds/rooms with an average daily census of 24
• Expected to work every other weekend
• Floating to other units within RN scope as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR system; prior Cerner experience preferred
• Block scheduling may be considered upon discussion with manager
• Duties include administering chemotherapy, managing body fluid protocols post-chemotherapy, handling continuous infusions, and recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values
• Responsibilities involve care and management of implanted ports and central lines
• Any solid color scrubs may be worn
• Position is open to first-time travelers
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
• No on-call requirements for this role
• Maximum of 5 days of requested time off is preferred
• Free parking permit provided during orientation

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in hand or proof of application
• Minimum 1 year of recent Oncology RN experience required
• Chemo certification preferred
• Required chemotherapy skills include administration, monitoring, IV push, oral administration, and management of cytotoxic spills
• Required IV therapy/infusion skills include accessing and managing ports, central/PICC line care, blood draws, starting IVs, and blood product administration
