Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Room position requiring 2 years of ER experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an 18-bed Emergency Room with 3 trauma bays in an acute care setting
• Treats a wide range of general ER patients including trauma, psych, DKA, sickle cell, and others
• Average ER volume of 90 patients per day, with peaks up to 140 during busy seasons
• Shift is 12 hours, 7p-7a, with every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling are available, subject to managerial approval
• Tele monitors are in every room except safety rooms; RNs must interpret their own strips
• CT and X-ray available 24/7, with radiology handling patient transport
• RNs may work triage depending on experience and may be assigned ER holds
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
• Scrub color is Caribbean blue and scrub jackets must be the same color or white
• RNs draw their own labs alongside techs and assist with all critical care drips
• ER nurses manage their own ER holds and may work with psych patients in designated safety rooms
• In-house security is present on weekends, with 24/7 coverage in progress
• Masking requirements vary depending on vaccination status
• Holiday shifts are rotated with permanent staff

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Proficiency with IVs, drips, and troubleshooting RT equipment such as vents, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Experience with T-system EMR required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips
