Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a High Risk Antepartum position requiring a WA or compact license, 2 years of antepartum experience, and advanced AWHONN certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in a high-risk antepartum unit within a hospital setting
- Care for patients from 6 to 41 weeks gestation with conditions including PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, twins, and substance use disorder in pregnancy
- Provide care for fetal demise, maternal loss, and postpartum mothers with babies in the NICU, but no newborns on the unit
- Support of bedside procedures including amniocentesis or sterile speculum exams
- Manage and maintain PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, syringe pumps, and administer heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Shift is 3x12 hour nights, 19:00 - 07:30
- Floating required to postpartum units and potentially other facilities within the state
- Epic EMR used; Epic experience is required
- Assist with sterile speculum exams including effacement, dilation, and station assessment
- Responsible for circulating during C-section procedures
- Must be able to float to postpartum and potentially other units as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Returning permanent staff must have a 3 month separation and live outside a 50-mile radius
- Travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state as needed
- Minimal or no RTO preferred; excessive RTO may hinder consideration
- Scrub in any color on unit; facility provides scrubs when floating to L&D units
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license
- At least 2 years of recent antepartum RN experience
- AWHONN Advanced, BLS, and NRP certifications required
- ACLS preferred
- Intermediate AWHONN candidates require managerial approval
- Experience circulating for C-sections
- Demonstrated skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line maintenance
- Experience with high-risk pregnancy complications and associated medications
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
