Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2.5 years of recent CVICU and cardiac surgical experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Cardiovascular ICU of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiovascular disease, pre/post cath lab and IR procedures, and fresh open heart surgery
- Care for patients undergoing procedures such as CABG, AAA, valvular repairs, and utilize devices like IABP, Impella, VADs, and pacemakers
- Specialized procedures performed include ECMO, CRRT/dialysis, hemodynamic monitoring, breathing treatments, chest tube care, trach care, vents, and procedure sedation
- Care ratios are 1:1-2
- Night shift schedule is 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
- Floating to other units or facilities within the state is required
- Uses Epic for charting (Epic experience preferred)
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Responsibilities include managing patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, operating critical care devices, and supporting fresh post-surgical cases
- Unit has unseasoned staff, so strong, independent travelers are needed
- Three-day orientation with skills validation for competencies
- First-time travelers with strong experience are accepted
- All requested time off must be discussed and approved during application; excessive RTO may impact consideration
- Returning employees must be separated for at least 3 months and reside more than 50 miles away
- All travelers are required to float as directed by the health system
Requirements
- Active WA or compact state RN license required
- Minimum 2.5 years of recent CVICU experience, with current CVICU work within the last 6 months
- Cardiac surgical experience required
- Current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and CRRT Prismaflex required
- Proficiency with IABP and fresh open heart care required
- Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, sheath removal, and advanced cardiac procedures required
- Experience with ventilator management, hypothermia protocols, IV therapy, sedation, and infection prevention required
- Epic charting experience preferred
