Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IR PACU position requiring Phase 1 recovery, ICU experience, and pediatric care proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in the Interventional Radiology PACU of a hospital
  • Rotating start times at 6:00 am, 7:00 am, or 8:00 am based on unit needs
  • Work schedule consists of three 12-hour day shifts per week
  • Care for both adult and pediatric patients in Phase 1 recovery
  • 3-4 late stays are required every 6 weeks
  • Floating required within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
  • On-call required with 1-hour response time: weekday call is 8:00 pm–6:00 am, weekends are split shifts between 6:00 am–6:00 pm and 6:00 pm–6:00 am
  • PACU team is responsible for recovering only IR PACU patients in the main PACU after closing
  • Provide post-anesthesia care and monitoring for IR procedure patients including both adults and children
  • IR PACU call team follows patients to main PACU for continued recovery as needed
  • Weekend and holiday coverage may be required per unit needs
  • Annual and orientation modules are mandatory and completed during onboarding
  • Must report any previous employment at the facility to determine rehire eligibility

Requirements

  • Active Kentucky or compact RN license required at time of application
  • Minimum of 2 years specialty experience in PACU, with at least 1 year of ICU experience
  • IR PACU experience with Phase 1 recovery required
  • Experience caring for pediatric patients is necessary
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS; PALS required before start (not at submission)
  • Level 1 trauma experience required
  • No licensure hits permitted
  • One reference from a charge nurse or supervisor required for consideration
  • Candidates must have been away from the facility for at least 90 days if previously employed
  • Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not eligible
