Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification and at least one year of PCU experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital setting as part of the PCU float pool
• Float between all Med-Surg/Telemetry, Progressive Care, and ED holding units
• Patient ratio of 1:4+ for PCU and 1:5 for Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units
• Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
• Uses Epic EMR for documentation
• Duties include EKG interpretation and management, care for renal failure, CVAs, TBIs, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, ABGs, trachs, and wound vacs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy blue scrubs are required for all shifts
• Team-based environment with support across multiple departments
• Holiday coverage is expected per hospital scheduling policies
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• RTO and schedule requests must be confirmed prior to assignment

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care nursing experience
• At least 1 year of PCU or stepdown nursing experience required
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Demonstrated ability to float between units and manage a variety of patient needs
• Well-rounded stepdown or PCU background with specialized skillset in EKG, respiratory, and neuro cases
• Must not have any open or active background or license issues
• Former RWJBH staff must have a minimum of 1 year separation before returning for a travel assignment
