Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position in Alaska requiring an active AK RN license and trauma level II experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit with adult and geriatric patients
- Common diagnoses include CKD, ESRD, DMII, CHF, COPD, GIB, and post-op care
- Patient ratio is 1:3 for days, nights, and weekends
- Alternating day and night shifts with 4x12 hour blocks (7:00-19:00 and 19:00-7:00)
- Weekend coverage required every other weekend
- Float to PCU assignments within the ICU may be needed
- Block scheduling is utilized
- Uses Cerner for documentation and Pyxis medication system
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Responsibilities include caring for adults and geriatric patients with complex medical needs
- Must be able to float to ICU for PCU assignments as needed
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Modules are completed onsite during orientation and annually, averaging 4-5 hours
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Cannot return as a traveler if employed at facility within the past 2 years
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at submittal
- Minimum 2 years of PCU nursing experience required, but candidates with less experience may be considered
- Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
- Experience in trauma level II setting required
- Ability to care for patients on long-term ventilators and with tracheostomies
- Must live more than 100 miles from the facility
- Locals are not accepted for this position
- COVID vaccination required
