Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a high-acuity critical care position requiring at least two years of ICU experience and the ability to float to all levels of care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed ICU unit caring for neuro, cardiac, and postsurgical patients with high acuity needs
• Expect to float to all levels of care as needed
• Patient ratios typically range from 1:2 to 1:3, with overflow up to 36 beds based on census
• Utilize equipment such as Alaris pumps, ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, pressors, IABP, EVD, ICP, TVP, CRRT, impella, SWAN, and ECMO
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
• Provider support includes intensivists, mid-levels, residents, resource RN, and a rapid response team available 24/7
• Navy blue scrubs required
• EPIC EHR is used; EHR training is preferred
• Role includes managing critically ill patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma
• Perform nursing care related to advanced life-support technologies and hemodynamic monitoring
• Responsible for patient and family education, care coordination, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members
• Holiday coverage is required on a rotating basis
• Self-scheduling is available after the initial schedule
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
• Pass/fail EKG test required on the first day with provided study resources

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience
• Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam with two attempts allowed; study guide provided
• BLS required prior to patient care; ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
