Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a high-risk perinatal center requiring WA or Compact RN license and BLS/NRP certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Labor and Delivery unit at a teaching hospital and Magnet center
- Handles antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patient populations, including extreme high-risk cases
- Level 3 Perinatal center with approximately 150 births per month
- Unit features 2 ORs for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum D&Cs
- Secondary LD RN serves as 'baby catcher' for well, non-compromised infants
- Schedule is night shift, with either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts required, and includes weekend shifts
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Floating within the hospital is required; no floating to sister hospitals
- No on-call responsibilities
- Epic utilized for charting; experience preferred but not required
- Nurses care for a majority of complex, high-risk perinatal patients
- Team supports care for mothers and newborns, including operating room procedures on unit
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Scrubs of any color may be worn; scrubs provided for OR personnel
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates as travelers
- Return staff policy requires 18 months separation before returning as a traveler
- RTO is restricted to 1 week maximum and may not be taken during orientation
- No minimum mile radius for eligibility
Requirements
- Active WA or Compact RN license, or proof of pending license
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required; 3 years preferred
- At least 2 previous travel assignments completed beyond initial hospital
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Experience in teaching hospital and trauma setting preferred
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
